What is Voltopia?

Voltopia is a web app that shows real-time electricity prices from Nord Pool. It provides price alerts, hourly price charts and push notifications so you can shift usage to cheap hours.

Which regions are supported?

Voltopia supports the Nord Pool bidding zones in:

  • Baltic countries: Latvia (LV), Lithuania (LT), Estonia (EE)
  • Nordic countries: Sweden (SE1 to SE4), Norway (NO1 to NO5), Finland (FI), Denmark (DK1, DK2)
How often are prices updated?

Nord Pool publishes prices once a day, typically around 12:00 to 13:00 CET. Today's prices are available immediately and tomorrow's prices appear in the afternoon. Voltopia fetches the latest prices several times a day.

What time interval does the data represent?

Nord Pool provides prices in 15-minute intervals. Voltopia can show the data as 15-minute intervals or hourly averages, depending on your settings. The hourly view averages the four 15-minute periods within each hour.

Why do the hours shown differ from my local time?

Voltopia shows all times in your local timezone with daylight saving adjustments. If the times look wrong, check that your device's timezone is set correctly.

How do price alerts work?

Set a low and a high threshold. You get a notification when the price falls below the low threshold or rises above the high one. Enable push notifications in your browser to receive alerts even when the app is closed.

How do I enable push notifications?
  1. Open the dashboard and choose Enable notifications
  2. Allow notifications when your browser asks
  3. Set your price thresholds in settings
What is the difference between prices with and without VAT?

Nord Pool prices are shown without VAT by default. Turn on VAT in settings to see prices including VAT (21% in Latvia, other rates elsewhere). That is closer to what you pay as a consumer, though grid fees and supplier margins are not included.

Can I use Voltopia offline?

Yes. Once loaded, the app caches the interface and recent price data, so you can view previously loaded prices without a connection. You need internet to fetch new prices.

How do I install Voltopia on my device?
  • Desktop: use the install icon in the address bar or the browser menu
  • iOS: open in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen
  • Android: open in Chrome, tap the menu, then Install app
Is my data private?

Your settings are stored on your device. We store push subscriptions and account details needed to send alerts. We do not track usage or run analytics. See the privacy policy for details.

Are the prices in EUR/MWh or EUR/kWh?

Nord Pool publishes prices in EUR/MWh. Voltopia shows them per kWh in cents, which is the unit on your bill. 1 MWh = 1000 kWh.

Why are there sometimes no prices for tomorrow?

Tomorrow's prices are published around 12:00 to 13:00 CET. Before that, only today's prices are available. The app shows tomorrow's prices as soon as they are published.
